30-Year LAFD Veteran and Valley Bureau Deputy Chief Will Become the City’s First Spanish-Speaking Fire Chief

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has appointed longtime firefighter and Deputy Chief Jaime Moore as the next Chief of the Los Angeles Fire Department, following a nationwide search for the city’s top fire official.

Moore, a 30-year veteran of the LAFD who currently oversees operations for the Valley Bureau, will lead the department pending confirmation by the Los Angeles City Council. If confirmed, he will become the city’s first Spanish-speaking fire chief and the second Latino to hold the post.
