Investigators Say a 42-Year-Old Man Accused of Following and Assaulting Minors on Havenhurst Drive May Have Targeted Additional Victims

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying additional victims after a man was arrested in connection with the alleged assault of a minor in West Hollywood earlier this week, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded to reports on Oct. 21 that two juveniles were being followed by a man near the 1000 block of Havenhurst Drive. Investigators said one of the minors was assaulted before deputies arrived.

The suspect, 42-year-old Elmer Mercado, was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of committing lewd acts with a child and annoying or molesting a minor. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Offi
