As energy bills continue to put a strain on household budgets, millions of Brits are seeking alternative methods to keep warm without resorting to central heating. A recent poll by Uswitch disclosed that over 11 million households intend to buy at least one warming device this winter, with two-fifths of those surveyed stating they'll be investing in heated clothing or appliances.
Electric blankets are becoming particularly popular, as homes search for cost-effective ways to stay snug when the mercury dips. Approximately 30 per cent of residences already utilise an electric blanket - which typically costs a mere 3p an hour to operate - while nearly 40 per cent depend on a weighted or heated throw for additional comfort.
