A van has hit a Cambridgeshire railway bridge for the third time in a week. The railway bridge along Station Road in Ely was struck by a Luton van just after 5pm on Friday (October 24).
Network Rail attended the scene to assess any potential structural damage. However, there were no issues and the van was removed by around 7.40pm.
A Network Rail spokesperson said: “The railway bridge on Stuntney Road in Ely was struck by a van yesterday just after 5pm. Our teams attended the scene to carry out safety inspections and ensure the bridge remained structurally sound.
“No train services were affected by the incident and the van was safely removed by 7:40pm.” This is the third time in a week this bridge has been hit, and fourth time within two weeks.
