A person has tragically lost their life at a car park in the city centre.

Police and paramedics descended on the Viewcraig Gardens facility on Saturday October 25 at 7.15am.

Concerned locals reported seeing forensic officers in white suits and blue gloves entering the car park throughout the morning.

Officers remain on site with a cordon erected in the area.

A local resident reported being unable to access the steps which lead from St John's Hill to Holyrood Road as police stood watch over the scene.

Officers were originally alerted to a concern for a person but it is understood the person passed away at the site.

The death is not being treating as suspicious and their identity is not known at this time.
