At age 50, when many Americans are planning for retirement, one Haverford man’s dream just came true: he’s become rookie cop.

Over a varied career, Chris Feder has now taken a pay cut to fulfill his dream job of becoming a front line police officer.

Earlier this month he graduated from the Temple University Municipal Police Academy and is now on the force as a Temple University officer.

Though technically a rookie police officer, Feder’s long list of accomplishments shows his tenacity and dedication to public service.

During a recent interview, Feder said encountering resistance such as being told you are too old to be a police officer makes him rise to the challenge.

“When someone says I think it’s out of reach for you, you’re not big enough or you’re too old, I say why not,” he
