NEW CANAAN, Conn. — A man is facing murder charges after he told New Canaan police that he killed his mother, and after responders found and tried to revive the victim late Friday evening.
Police were first called to the area of South Avenue and Gerdes Road around 10:36 p.m. for a report of a man yelling from the woods. A 911 call came in while officers were on their way; a man, who police identified as Sebastian Van Stockum, called from a home on Gerdes Road saying that he had killed his mother.
Officers found the victim, and responding EMS personnel performed life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The victim has not been identified at this time.
Police identified Van Stockum, 25, as the suspect and placed him under arrest.
