The former president and CEO of the Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce has resigned from his role on a Twin Cities school board following his indictment on embezzlement charges.
In a memo to parents on Friday, Mounds View School District confirmed it had received notice from Jonathan Weinhagen that he is resigning from the school board effective immediately.
Weinhagen, 42, of Shoreview, has served on the school board since his election in 2015.
"The Board will discuss next steps to fill the remainder of the vacated term, which expires on January 3, 2028," the statement added.
Weinhagen was indicted this week on federal charges of wire fraud, mail fraud, attempted bank fraud and making a false statement in a loan application.
