Toronto fans are in disbelief after the Blue Jays dominated the Los Angeles Dodgers 11-4 in Game 1 of the World Series Friday.
Toronto’s bats came alive and fans across the city sighed in relief as Addison Barger smashed a grand slam inside a sold out Rogers Centre.
Blue Jays fan Jon Williams, who was at the watch party at Nathan Phillips Square, said he was in “awe” immediately after the game.
“I’m not religious, but it felt like that was God’s work right there,” he said.
Mike Tyas opted to watch the game at a local bar. He said the outcome was unbelievable.
“I can’t believe it, first time in my life they’ve been there,” he said. “I couldn’t be happier.”
It’s been 32 years since the Jays played in a World Series.
