The man at the centre of a murder investigation in Cheetham Hill has been named as tributes pour in from family and friends.

Vernard Murray was stabbed to death following a car crash amid a suspected chase off Cardinal Street on Thursday (October 23).

Emergency services were called at 2.25pm following reports of a disturbance. Mr Murray, 26, was taken to hospital with serious knife wounds. He tragically later died.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was being questioned by detectives on Saturday (October 25). GMP has been contacted for an update on the investigation.

Though formal identification is yet to take place, tributes have been paid to Mr Murray on social media.
