SAGINAW, MI — MyMichigan Health officials will provide lung cancer screenings on Saturday, Nov. 8, at six locations across mid-Michigan in recognition of National Lung Cancer Screening Day.

The screenings will be available from 9 a.m. to noon at medical centers in Alma, Alpena, Midland, Saginaw, Tawas, and West Branch. The weekend hours are designed to make the potentially life-saving screening more accessible to working individuals, organizers said.

“By extending hours, we are increasing access for this life saving screening to allow individuals to be screened without taking time off work during the week,” Dr. James Fenton, a thoracic surgeon at MyMichigan Health, said in a statement. “A low dose CT (scan) is the single most effective strategy for reducing mortality from lung cancer.”
