GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - At 2:52 a.m. Saturday, officers were approached at the Chevron Gas Station on West University Avenue by 21-year-old Bennett Stringfellow, who claimed he was robbed.
According to officers, Stringfellow claimed he was attacked and his phone was stolen.
During their investigation, they were approached by the alleged “thief,” who was an employee at ANF Gyros and Grill.
The employee said that after Stringfellow got his food, he grabbed the tip jar from the restaurant and ran away.
The employee chased after him and took his phone during the pursuit.
Stringfellow dropped the tip jar and continued running, later showing back up to ANF Gyros and Grill with the officer.
