Following claims of the Cleveland Browns planning to start Shedeur Sanders against the New England Patriots this weekend, the rookie quarterback may not even be on the sideline.

Last season’s Johnny Unitas Award winner began the season as the Browns’ third-stringer behind Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel before the team bizarrely traded Flacco and made Gabriel their starter.

Shedeur Sanders Dealing With Back Issues

Sanders is now the No. 2 option and is expected to get his opportunity if Gabriel gets injured or plays extremely poorly. However, that’s looking unlikely in Week 8, as he’s been added to the team’s injury report with a back injury, with Bailey Zapp now set to back Gabriel up, having been called up from the practice squad.
