HUNTINGTON – When the Concordia girls lined up at the start of the New Haven Cross Country Regional on Saturday morning, they did so without senior Mallory Weller, the defending state champion.

Down one of the best high school distance runners in the country, the No. 4 Cadets simply proved that they still have a front-runner leading one of the deepest lineups around.

Sophomore Daphne Weller ran with Columbia City junior Kenya Leitch early in the race, but pulled away to win on the Huntington University course in a time of 17:41.20. Another Cadet, Leighton Archer, placed fifth in 18:16.60, and Luci Hogue, Hannah Clark and Lilly Schlicker all placed between 14th and 17th place to give the Cadets their third straight regional title with 49 points.
