Former Dodger Max Scherzer will start Game 3 of the World Series in Los Angeles with Shane Bieber getting the ball for Game 4, according to John Schneider.

The manager says he is flipping the normal order of his rotation to give Bieber, who pitched Game 7 of the ALCS Monday on short rest, an extra day of recovery and to shorten the layoff between starts for Scherzer.

Scherzer has started four World Series games in his career, posting a 3.26 ERA with 19 strikeouts over 19.1 innings. The plan would set the veteran up to pitch in a potential Game 7.

Schneider said Scherzer was asking him about the World Series pitching plans as soon as the American League championship series ended.

“Max, I’m enjoying a beer, man,” the manager joked.
