Yesterday, two days after a federal judge in Boston ordered ICE to "immediately" ship a woman it had stuck in a cell in a Texas prison back to Massachusetts, ICE asked if it could instead ship her to a prison in New Jersey - once it gets a cell cleared for her - acknowledging its ad-hoc prison in a Burlington office park is not designed for long-term imprisonment, what with its lack of medical facilities and a room for inmates to meet with their attorneys.
In a reply, Mirian Abarca Tixe's attorney asked what part of "immediately" ICE failed to understand, and asked US District Judge George O'Toole to step in, again, and get the Ecuadorean immigrant closer to her so that they can better prepare for her legal battle to be released altogether as she fights to stay int he US.
