At halftime, LSU appeared to be in good position to earn a much-needed breakthrough win in a 2025 season that’s fallen well short of lofty expectations, with an 18-14 lead over No. 3 Texas A&M.
Then the second half kicked off.

Marcel Reed had 310 total yards and four touchdowns as the Aggies outscored No. 19 LSU 35-7 in the second half to pave the way to a 49-25 victory on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The win pushed coach Mike Elko’s team to 8-0, the program's best start since 1994.
The Texas A&M defense suffocated Garrett Nussmeier and the LSU offense, holding the Tigers to just 278 total yards while sacking LSU quarterbacks seven times. The Tigers had just 14 yards in the second half until a 75-yard, garbage-time touchdown drive in the final minutes.
The loss was LSU's third of the season, likely eliminating it from College Football Playoff contention. Fan discontent with fourth-year head coach Brian Kelly was palpable inside the stadium, with chants of "Fire Kelly" being audible on the television broadcast.

Marcel Reed TD pass extends Texas A&M lead over LSU
There's still almost 20 minutes left of game time, but Texas A&M's starting to run away with this one.
Marcel Reed dumps it off to Jamarion Morrow, who takes it the rest of the way untouched for a 24-yard touchdown to push the Aggies' lead to 35-18 with 4:07 remaining in the third quarter.

An already strong start to the second half got even better for Texas A&M.

After his missed extra point the previous drive, Damian Ramos comes in and drills a 30-yard field goal to extend the Tigers' advantage to 18-14 with 20 seconds left in the half.
LSU gets ball back after another Marcel Reed INT
After getting gashed on its first two drives, LSU's defense has come alive, with two interceptions off Marcel Reed on each of Texas A&M's past two possessions.
The latest one comes courtesy of Mansoor Delane, who blitzes from his spot at corner and tips a Reed pass, with the ball floating in the air and ending up in the hands of Harold Perkins.
The Tigers take over at the Aggies' 49-yard line with 1:14 left in the half.
Harlem Berry TD run puts LSU ahead
LSU makes good on the A.J. Haulcy interception off Marcel Reed, going 75 yards in eight plays, with freshman Harlem Berry finishing things off with a 7-yard touchdown run up the middle to put the Tigers ahead. LSU kicker Damian Ramos doinks the ensuing extra point off the upright, though, keeping the score at 15-14.

Right when it looked like Texas A&M was poised to extend its 5-point lead, LSU says "Not so fast."

On the Aggies' punt attempt, Jhase Thomas bursts through the line and blocks the punt. The ball rolls though the back of the end zone, giving LSU two points and the ball.
After the ensuing kickoff, the Tigers take over at their own 33 with 12:07 left.

Garrett Nussmeier TD pass evens it up for LSU
After giving up the long Marcel Reed touchdown run, LSU counters with a score of its own.
The Tigers go 74 yards in eight plays, a drive that ends with Garrett Nussmeier connecting with Trey'Dez Green for a 5-yard touchdown after the 6-foot-7 tight end boxed out a Texas A&M defender. Green already has three catches for 26 yards just 10 minutes into the game.
We've got a tie game with 5:38 remaining in the first quarter.
Marcel Reed TD gets Texas A&M on the board first
In one of the fiercest road environments in college football, Texas A&M scores to momentarily shush the LSU crowd. Aggies quarterback Marcel Reed takes a shotgun snap, rolls to his left and instead of throwing the ball down the field, he finds a gaping hole in the LSU defense, which he bursts through on his way to a 41-yard touchdown scamper, with Reid just crossing the goal line before going to the ground.
It's the longest run of Reid's career and his fifth rushing touchdown of the season. Texas A&M with a 7-0 lead with 10:10 remaining in the first quarter.

Whit Weeks injury update
If LSU is going to pull off an upset of a top-five Texas A&M team, it will have to do so without one of its best defensive players.
Tigers linebacker Whit Weeks is listed as out for Saturday night's game on the latest SEC athlete availability report. Weeks is nursing a bone bruise in his ankle, which forced him to miss LSU's loss last week at Vanderbilt.
Le'Veon Moss injury update

Moss suffered an ankle injury in the first half of Texas A&M's Oct. 11 victory against Florida, which Aggies coach Mike Elko said will keep Moss out for "a significant amount of time."
Moss has run for 389 yards and a team-high six touchdowns this season while averaging 5.6 yards per carry.

Getting out of Death Valley with a win as a road team is never an easy task, but the Aggies are one of the most complete teams in the sport, which should be enough to get them out of Baton Rouge with a win against what's been a maddening Tigers team for much of this season.
