CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Saturday marked 14 years since the tragic shooting of a 5-year-old girl who was shot while sleeping in her bed in the family’s Charleston County home.
Allison Griffor was struck in the head by a pellet from a .12-gauge shotgun blast fired into the Pierpont Avenue home in the West Ashley area.
She died at an area hospital two days later.
The girl’s father, William Griffor, told deputies he and his wife heard someone kicking at the door around 1 a.m.
Investigators say her father went to answer a knock at the front door of their home at approximately 1 a.m. that morning. But someone fired a shotgun into the door. William Griffor was wounded and one pellet from the shotgun blast went through an interior wall of the home and struck Allison Griffor.
