WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Five people were taken to the hospital after a shooting near Howard University Friday night, according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
Officers responded to sounds of gunfire in the 600 block of Howard Place NW shortly before 8:30 p.m.
Police found three men, one woman, and a 13-year-old boy who had non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS took them to the hospital.
MPD said that although no victims were Howard University students, one of the victims attended Morgan State University. The schools' football teams play each other on Saturday as part of Howard's homecoming weekend.
Officers explained that two people were taken into custody and that police recovered three weapons at the scene.
