ROCK ISLAND, Illinois (KWQC) - Rock Island County residents had the opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted prescription medications Saturday during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
People could drive up to one of seven drop-off locations across the county between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., including the Rock Island County Justice Center and the Moline Police Department.
The event was a collaboration between the Rock Island County C.A.U.S.E. Coalition, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and local police departments. The drive-up drop-off service was free and anonymous.
“The drugs don’t end back up in the city water systems, is a safe place for anybody who wants to dispose of them that doesn’t want to throw them in the trash or you are not supposed to dump them down the toilet
