SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- We are still two months away from Christmas, but one Sioux Falls non-profit is already gearing up for a toy drive to help families in need.
Gifts are already piling up at The Community Outreach. The non-profit has partnered with Center of Hope for its upcoming Sharing Christmas Store. It allows families to buy gifts at a reduced cost. Community Outreach executive director Brent Eliason estimates $100,000 worth of gifts were distributed last year at a cost of around $8,600.
"There's a gap within families that are at or just barely above poverty level where they don't qualify for some of those other programs, but they don't necessarily make enough money to provide Christmas for their families. That's what the Sharing Christmas Store is all about," Eliason said.
