A British tourist has accused a police officer of raping her while she was handcuffed in the back of his police vehicle.

She alleges that three officers arrested her on a street in Aubagne, near Marseilles, before one assaulted her in the car.

The 37-year-old woman reportedly filed a complaint on September 10, saying she was detained for “obvious drunkenness.”

She claims she was handcuffed and told to get inside the police car.

One officer then sat next to her and kissed her, before allegedly “penetrating her.”

One officer has been charged with “rape and sexual assault by a person abusing the authority conferred on them by their position” and remains in police custody.
