A motorcyclist died in a crash in Cedar City early Saturday morning, police said.
Cedar City Police Sgt. Kirk Lovell said the incident happened shortly after midnight at the intersection of 100 West and Coal Creek Road.
Lovell said the driver of the motorcycle, a 47-year-old man, was traveling north on 100 West on a Yamaha street bike.
“For unknown reasons, he lost control and laid the bike down near the intersection with Coal Creek,” Lovell said, adding that the man sustained fatal injuries at the scene.
“The driver was wearing a helmet but it came off in the crash,” Lovell added, noting that the injuries were consistent with a high-speed crash.
No other vehicles are thought to have been involved, he said.
