MORROW, Ga. — Firefighters in Clayton County said they extinguished a large grass and debris fire in Morrow.

According to a news release, Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services responded to a large grass fire in the 5300 block of North Parkway around 2:33 p.m. after receiving a call of heavy smoke in the area.

When the first fire engine arrived on the scene, there was a large area of woods on fire with about 50 or more tires burning. Officials say the fire extended to four nearby trailers.

Firefighters deployed an aggressive "surround and drown" strategy to contain the blaze.

The fire was brought under control after about three hours of battling the flames, according to a release.

There were no injuries reported, and no residents were displaced as a result of the incident.
