MARYLAND – As the government shutdown enters its 25th day, more than a million federal workers across America are facing financial hardships, with many turning to food banks for assistance. Friday marked the first time many missed a full paycheck, highlighting the growing impact of the shutdown.

In Southern Maryland, federal workers are seen waiting in long lines at a local food bank. Denise Blake, one of the affected workers, shared her experience of driving over an hour to reach the food bank, only to find they had run out of food.

“I would have never thought in a million years that I would have been in this position to have to go to a food bank,” said Blake.

Despite the initial shortage, Blake did not leave empty-handed. However, she still faces the uncertainty of feeding her family
