FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - An investigation is underway after a driver hit and killed a person in west Fresno early Saturday morning, the Fresno Police Department announced.

Police say around 3:40 a.m. they responded to the area of Hughes and Weber avenues for a report of a person who was hit by a vehicle.

Responding officers arrived to find an injured person lying in the roadway and said they immediately began lifesaving measures before EMS arrived.

Police say the victim ultimately succumbed to their injuries. They have not been officially identified.

Investigators have not released any information regarding the circumstances leading up to the collision or the suspect vehicle involved.
