Romeo’s girls cross country team might be peaking at the most opportune time.
“Today was, by far, our best race of the season,” coach Mike Buslepp said after the Bulldogs won the Division 1 regional at Goodells County Park on Saturday. Annie Hrabovsky finished first in 17 minutes, 26.22 seconds and teammates Natalia Guaresimo and Ella Goodsell took second and third, respectively, as the Bulldogs scored 19 points, 49 fewer than runner-up Macomb Dakota, at the 3.1-mile event.
Emmerson Clor, sixth, and Reese Rosbolt, seventh, completed the scoring for Romeo, a two-time defending state champion.
“I think we’re very confident,” Guaresimo said with only the Nov. 1 state championship meet left on the Bulldogs’ schedule. “This whole year, we’ve been very confident.”
