J’Koby Williams wasted no time setting the tone for No. 14 Texas Tech, taking the opening kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown and then catching a short pass for another score on the Red Raiders’ first offensive play. Those two lightning-strike moments jump-started a 42-0 rout of Oklahoma State on Saturday night.
“Score was a negative, but we gave them 21,” Oklahoma State interim head coach Doug Meacham said afterward. “They juiced a kick return on us, we had a blocked punt, and then a strip-six. That game could’ve been 28-10 real easy.”
It was a rebound for Texas Tech (7-1, 4-1 Big 12), which returned home after its first loss of the season, delivering its first Big 12 home shutout since 2005.
