KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Olivia Dildine’s first birthday looked different from others. Since being diagnosed with biliary atresia at three weeks old, there hasn’t been much of her life that’s looked like other 1-year-olds.

Despite the circumstances, her community made sure that her birthday was one to remember.

The rare liver disease meant that she needed a transplant. In August, she got that transplant and has been recovering since.

“I am just glad that we're able to celebrate, even if it is in a different way,” said her mom, Ciera Chronister.

Independence police officers, Fort Osage firefighters and others in her community organized a parade by Olivia’s home. Some dressed up their cars for the occasion, others brought out classic cars.
