FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The trial for a man accused of shooting and killing someone in Fayetteville last year has been delayed due to court docket congestion, according to a new filing in Washington County.

Zachary Clark was arrested on Feb. 7, 2024, and charged with second-degree murder and evidence tampering, to which he pleaded not guilty. The charge was later upgraded to capital murder based on evidence developed from the investigation.

Fayetteville police said Clark allegedly shot and killed 23-year-old Thomas McEnaney days prior to his arrest.

When FPD responded to Clark's home, he reportedly came out with his hands in the air, explaining that he thought the victim was someone else.
