US President Donald Trump said on Saturday he does not plan to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin until he thinks a deal is in place to secure peace between Russia and Ukraine.

”You have to know that we’re going to make a deal, I’m not going to be wasting my time,” Trump told reporters in Doha.

On October 24, Putin's special envoy for investment and economic cooperation, said he believed his country, the United States and Ukraine are close to a diplomatic solution to end Russia's war in Ukraine.

Speaking to CNN after arriving in Washington for talks with US officials, Dmitriev said that a meeting between Donald Trump and Putin had not been cancelled, as the US president described it, and that the two leaders will likely meet at a later date.
