After trailing 22–10 at halftime, Oklahoma turned to its ground game to climb back into contention. Running back Xavier Robinson broke free for a 65-yard touchdown early in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 25–20.
Later in the quarter, Robinson scored again, this time on a 9-yard run, to give OU its first lead of the game at 26–25 after a failed two-point conversion. Robinson finished with 109 rushing yards and two touchdowns on nine carries.
Ole Miss regained control early in the fourth when Chambliss engineered a 75-yard touchdown drive, connecting with Trace Bruckler for an 8-yard score. A failed two-point attempt kept the Rebels ahead 31–26.
Moments later, Oklahoma’s momentum was halted when Isaiah Sategna, who led all receivers with 131 yards and a touchdown, fumbled a punt
