PITTSFIELD, Maine (WABI) - October 25th is recognized as National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, with the community of Pittsfield ensuring a safe, anonymous return of unwanted prescriptions.
A Drug Take Back Program ran earlier today outside the entrance of Danforth’s Supermarket in Pittsfield.
The program is a community collaboration between Northern Light’s Sebasticook Valley Hospital and the Pittsfield Police Department
The program is held twice a year, with community members dropping off unwanted or expired drug prescriptions to ensure a safe disposal process.
“Everybody really just jumps in, and it comes together. People know we are gonna do it, they feel safe when we are gonna do it, they have someone here to make sure it is collected and disposed of properly,” said Stacy Price
