SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) - Maplewood United Methodist Church can return to their regular activities now that they have built their new Family Life Center.

Thanks so the help of charitable donations from the community and insurance money, this building has been a work in progress.

“It’s probably been close to a million dollar project because since we started, building materials have doubled. So, everything is really expensive,” said Pastor James Moore.

The previous Family Life Center at Maplewood Church was a two-story education building but it couldn’t be remodeled due to extensive damage.

Moore says the new Family Life Center is a fresh start for the church and ministry.

“We want to be community-minded, not just a church for us, but a church for the whole community,” said Moore.
