BROOKINGS, S.D. — Top-ranked North Dakota State scored 31 points in the first half and rolled to a 38-7 victory against No. 2 South Dakota State on Saturday in Missouri Valley Football Conference play at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium.

Bison quarterback Cole Payton rushed for 137 yards and four touchdowns on 17 attempts before a stadium-record 19,477 fans. Payton completed 18 of 23 passes for 243 yards.

NDSU senior Bryce Lance caught five passes for 103 yards.

“Coming into this we knew it was going to be a battle," Lance said. “I think the mindset was all about us. I’m really happy with what we put on the field tonight.”
