Nashville Police padlocked the 404 Bar & Grill on Aug. 7

Declaring a building or a home a public nuisance is a civil case prosecuted in criminal court.

404 Bar & Grill, closed by court order and police padlocking in August, will need a new home.

In a letter sent Aug. 11, Charles Farris, the land and building owner, notified Nancy McGrath, the owner of the restaurant, that she'd violated the lease and, therefore, it was no longer valid, according to court records filed Oct. 23.

The restaurant was closed Aug. 7 when Metro Nashville Police confiscated gambling machines, padlocked the doors and hung banners saying the building was closed.
