Mashpee saw 1,325 ballots cast on Saturday, October 25 - equating to 10% of Mashpee’s 13,000 voters. Unofficial results were delivered by new Town Clerk Jessica K. Colpitts at 9 PM.
Ballot Question 1, the only Question on the ballot, asked voters for approval to borrow $25.9 million for the funding to construct a Mashpee-Wakeby wastewater treatment cluster system at 0 Gunters Lane. Voters approved this question with 1,009 votes in favor and 315 votes against the measure.
The question sought a proposition 2 ½ debt exclusion to fund the project, temporarily giving property taxes a bump to get the full green light. Mashpee qualifies for 0% State Revolving Fund (SRF) financing and 25% forgiveness from the Cape Cod and Islands Water Protection Fund for the project.
