Drivers in the West Midlands have been hit with speeding fines while going less than 30mph.

While the speed limit in many residential areas may generally be expected to 30mph, this is not always the case.

And increasingly so over recent years, with many councils rolling out 20mph speed limits in residential areas, including in Birmingham .

This is more likely to be the case around schools, where police may run speeding operations using mobile van units.

It means drivers are now more likely to get into trouble even while driving at or below 30mph.

And it serves as a warning to always look out
