CANTON -- For the second time this season, Sequoyah set a single-game scoring record, rolling up 457 yards of offense to comfortably dispatch Pope 70-13 on Friday at Skip Pope Stadium.

For the Chiefs (8-1, 5-1 Region 6AAAAA), who topped the previous mark of 63 points they set Sept. 12 against Sprayberry, the victory set up a huge showdown at archrival Creekview next week.

Sequoyah and Creekview are tied for the region lead with Sprayberry, and the winner of the rivalry game could also be the region champion, depending on the result of Sprayberry's finale with Woodstock.

“It’s for the region championship. Tt’s going to be a huge game,” Sequoyah coach James Teter said.

Pope (0-9, 0-5) had no answers for Sequoyah, who scored touchdowns on all nine of their possessions.
