Nearly three years after the historic renaming of Aurangabad city in Maharashtra, the Central Railway has officially changed the name of Aurangabad Railway Station to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Railway Station.

According to an official release issued on Saturday, the new station code will be “CPSN.” The station falls under the Nanded Division of the South Central Railway, and the renaming aligns with the government’s broader initiative to reflect the region’s Maratha heritage.

The BJP-led Mahayuti government had earlier issued a gazette notification on October 15 to formalize the change. This step comes as part of a continued effort to recognize and celebrate historical figures from Maharashtra’s past.
