New Delhi, Oct 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Ambikapur’s Garbage Cafe in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ for its innovative approach to addressing plastic pollution and urban hunger.

The cafe offers a generous and wholesome menu, including rice, vegetable curries, dal, roti, salad, and pickles.

The initiative, launched in 2019, is funded by the Ambikapur Municipal Corporation’s sanitation budget and strategically located near the city’s main bus stand.

The cafe encourages ragpickers and low-income individuals to gather plastic from streets and landfills, exchanging it for hot meals that nourish both body and spirit. The cafe feeds several people daily, demonstrating that sustainable solutions can emerge from pressing urban challenges.
