It’s the middle of the week; it’s raining, it’s cold, and I have man flu. Things are serious.

Having been in St. Ann’s Square when all heavens let loose, I decided it was the perfect time to dip out, seek refuge and stock up on some comfort food. My chosen destination: a quaint little Italian that feels like it’s been part of the city for a lot longer than it has.

Tucked away between Deansgate and Cross Street, near Saint Ann's Church, is the unassuming Vincenzo Trattoria. It used to be a Frankie and Benny’s. You can sort of see how aesthetics might not have shied away too much from that era.

The front door takes a little juggle to get open to the point where I contemplate that it might even be closed, but once I get the jist of things, I’m inside, the rain is a thing
