Eight people, including a senior citizen and three minors, sustained injuries in a fire incident that was reported in a residential building at Kandivali in the western suburbs of Mumbai Sunday.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) disaster management cell, the blaze erupted around 7.45 am and was extinguished within 30 minutes.

Civic authorities said all eight victims sustained injuries due to suffocation after they had inhaled smoke. The victims were trapped inside the building after the blaze erupted and had to be rescued by fire officials.
