The president convened all but one of the Republican Senators this week in what used to be the White House rose garden, a space now more aesthetically aligned with an Arby’s parking lot, to remind them not to do anything so stupid as to enter negotiations that might re-open the government.

The person not invited, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, was left off the guest list in part because he’s been a hard nay on signature Republican legislation, but also, I suspect, because he’s taken to pointing out that the Trump administration has begun to kill people indiscriminately.
