DUNNELLON — Ali Shelton said visiting Rainbow Springs State Park, a designated national landmark about 20 miles west of Ocala, opened her eyes to a new world.
“A (natural) spring is a whole new Florida experience. It’s exciting,” Shelton said.
Shelton sought a change up from the beaches near her Jupiter home and decided to check out several of Florida’s springs. She formed a list of springs to visit in central and northern Florida. Joining her were her sister, Christie De Rojas of Clermont, and their children, ages 6 to 13.
