The fall regular season is coming to an end here in Pueblo, but the athletes are in prime postseason form.

Each week, the Chieftain recognizes the top student-athletes from area schools to highlight those who have performed at a high level. The Chieftain sports staff selects them. Coaches can nominate players by emailing cabdelmalek@gannett.com before Thursday night.

Last week’s winner was Ashlynn Koch of Pueblo East, winning with 89.94% (39,100 votes) of the votes for Week 8.

Pueblo Chieftain readers can now vote for their favorite high school athletes at the newspaper's website, chieftain.com. The poll is located at the bottom of the article and closes at midnight on Friday.

Each week, the winner will move on to the final vote of the season.
