BAD AXE — Mark Rolfe stood alone inside his old-time movie theater, waiting. He was waiting for customers, waiting to hear back if anyone was willing to help out that night so he wouldn’t be the only one working, waiting most of all for people to fall back in love with movies the way he loves them.
“When I was growing up, I was one of those movie dorks,” said the 54-year-old owner of the Bad Axe Theatre. “I didn't care about anything else. I'd be in school, I'd be thinking about whatever big movie was out. Maybe it's just the whole taking you out of your real life and putting you into something else. For two hours you just don't think about whatever's going on in your life, either good or bad, you know? There's a certain magic to that.”
