EAST LANSING — Michigan football made a notable investment this offseason in the quarterback position, ponying up to ensure it could land the top recruit in the nation.
Bryce Underwood was brought in to win games like Saturday's game against Michigan State football – the rivalry showdown that the Wolverines ' staff spent all week (and before that, all offseason) preaching about to the newcomers. But in the end, the great irony on Oct. 25 was Michigan didn't need Underwood to win it at all.
