Barely had President Donald Trump promised us that he would not dismantle the East Wing, that he laid it to waste. I was not surprised. It’s just one more lie. However, this is the people’s house, not another of Donald Trump‘s playthings. It was a gut punch to see, and I think that was the point.

It seems that everything he does is a power-hungry grab for naked wealth versus concern for the common good. It is just one more strike of retribution, meanness and disregard for anyone other than himself. Children can starve, people can lose their health care and lives, their path to citizenship and a decent living. But he can have his ballroom.
