Former President Joe Biden is set to be honored in Boston Sunday at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute.

Biden will receive a lifetime achievement award at the ceremony. The night will also serve as the institute's 10th anniversary celebration , and former Boston Mayor Marty Walsh and retired Navy Admiral Lisa Franchetti are set to receive leadership awards.

The former president, expected to be joined by his wife Jill, will speak at the celebration. The 82-year-old completed a round of radiation therapy treatment Monday for the aggressive form of prostate cancer that he was diagnosed with after leaving office.

Biden and Kennedy were mainstays of the Senate and the Democratic party for decades.
